Las Chicas Locas

Las Chicas Locas is an oddly placed Mexican tapas bar and restaurant located inside the Four Point’s Sheraton. Aside from it’s random location, the decor, ambiance, and overall trendiness would give it the illusion of being just like any of the other restaurant located inside the more upscale New York City hotels. The name of the restaurant is also perfectly suited for a girls night, which it just happened to be!

We luckily got there before 7:00p.m. so they still had their happy hour going. Two-for-one Margaritas, Sangria or Coronas! The drinks were excellent, and we started off with the freshly made Guacamole with cilantro, pico de gallo, and jalapeno. It was good but nothing extra special, and definitely could have been spicier.

For our main course, we shared the Fish Tacos with crispy mahi mahi, cole slaw, and salsa verde. I quite enjoy fish tacos, and these were pretty good with the addition of some hot sauce. Next we had the Congrejo Crab Quesidillas, stuffed with crab, corn, pepper jack cheese, and tomatillo salsa. Although I usually really like crab, this dish was way to fishy for some reason and ended up being the least favorite dish of the night. Last, we tried the Papas Bravas, topped with smoked paprika and queso fresco - which were a must a must have! I was anticipating more of a french fry type papas bravas, but these ended up being more like crispy breakfast potatoes. A great bar food for sure!

All in all, the food at Las Chicas Locas was average, but the drinks and ambiance were great! I would definitely come back for happy hour any time, and maybe just get a dish or two at the bar to snack on.
