STK
Every once in a while, you have a meal so out of this world that you leave the restaurant with a full belly and a huge smile on your face. The kind of meal where dish after dish the server brings out is perfect. The last meal I had of this stature was two years ago at Del Posto for lunch. I wish I had a blog back then because I would have gushed about how amazing it was (Although I have been back to Del Posto on another occasion for dinner and been very disappointed). Anyway- STK ended up being one of those kinds of meals.

We didn’t know this beforehand, but apparently every Monday, STK is offering 50% off select bottles and wines by the glass. We were off to a great start! Along with your drink order they bring you out an amazing bread to start your meal of with. It’s a buttery and fluffy roll you pull apart and dip in some sort of green garlicky concoction. This was one of the best table breads I have had to date. For appetizers, we shared half a dozen oysters, which were giant sized and succulent - and not overly fishy at all.

For our entree we shared the medium size (16 oz.) Sirloin with the Au Poivre Sauce (recommended to us by the waiter - translates to “peppercorn sauce”), which was more then enough for two people, especially because I was looking forward to filling up with the amazing side dishes. We got the macaroni and cheese, parmesan truffle fries, and the creamed spinach. If you have read this blog before, then you know how much I love my mac and cheese. This one was AMAZING, one of the best I’ve had! The fries were also delicious, cut into perfect thick cut wedges and displayed like a tic tac toe board- extremely crispy and drenched in tons of fresh parmesan cheese. The creamed spinach was slightly overshadowed by the other two stars, it was worth trying but not overly amazing.

It was my fiance’s birthday so we indulged in dessert for the special occasion - and was it good! We choose the Warm Chocolate Molten Cake withhazelnut ice cream, and I literally could not stop eating it (and mind you - I am not a dessert eater AT ALL)!!!!

STK is a steakhouse that I would recommend to everyone. Their marketing push is that they are “not your daddy’s steakhouse” - which in part is true, they are trendy and stylish and in the most sought after meatpacking location. But the food lives up to any old world steakhouse standards in terms of quality and consistency. My tip would be to order a smaller size steak like we did, and try a variety of the delicious side dishes!
