New York City Restaurant Week is coming up soon and I'm unsure where to make my reservation. Can you give me some suggestions of your favorite restaurant week locations? Thanks!

Choosing restaurants can be an art form when it comes to NYC Restaurant Week. In my experience, most of the restaurants have really mediocre menu selections - so pick restaurants based on the menu instead on just focusing on the “big names”. Another tip is to see which of the restaurants have special restaurant week wine or cocktail deals, because once you factor in the cost of liquor, the restaurant week deal isn’t so much of a deal anymore!

For example, the menu at The Modern Bar Room is massive. It has 13 selections for both the appetizers and the entrees. Compare that to most of the others on the restaurant week website, which for the most part only give you the option of choosing between 3-4 items. Plus, it’s located inside the Museum of Modern Art, and the view from this restaurant is amazing!

For Japanese try Tanuki’s Tavern in the Gansevort Hotel. I went last year during restaurant week, and the food was absolutely delicious (plus they have ample outdoor seating!). The service on the other hand was atrocious, but I would still give it a second chance - perhaps they were just having a bad night. If you’re in the mood for some fancy Indian food, try Devi in Union Square. The food really is excellent compared to most of the Indian restaurants in the city.

If you really want to get the most bang for your buck, your best bet would be to go to one of the many steakhouse options, as often times just the steak alone will run you upwards of $35, which is the price of the full three courses during dinner at restaurant week.

Again, the options are endless but make sure you check the menu’s before booking!
